Derek Earl Houghton Poems

Welcome my blog. The intention is to publish every piece of writing that I have churned out for the past 10 years. Some pieces have a story behind the story, some lyrical poems have become songs. We have hundreds of poems, stories, songs, lyrics, and life musings. Subscribe and every Monday receive a story to start off your week. Art is created by Amina & AI.

Not sure I want anything more from this.

Feels like I have squeezed all the juice out of it.

Its no longer refreshing.

It’s no longer sweet.

When I wake my mouth tastes like I have

been licking my dogs crotch.

I brush my teeth.

Crest is like minty formaldehyde.

The taste of death.

I do the dishes and make a cup of tea.

Four tablespoons of honey.

Fresh cream

I feel a little better, sweeter at least.

I will wait and see what tomorrow will bring.

Life offers occasional twists and turns

like a movie that starts out for shit until

the femme fatal reveals her surprising cleavage.

Life pulls rabbits of a hat sometimes.

Sometimes life reveals its subtle purpose

hidden deep inside loud stupid histrionics,

Sometimes a revealing blouse is as good

as enlightenment.

Even now, as I have this thought,

I am giddy with anticipation

My nihilistic bent is

side lined for a brief albeit

resplendent moment.

You too would want to make the world pay for your suffering

if you where born with no talent, one testicle, and a name like Schicklgruber.

Count me in. Your lie is better than the one I have been living.

Plus it offers a nice feeling of  community and obsequious  quiescence

quite distinct from  my current fortress of  solitude.
