Derek Earl Houghton Poems

Welcome my blog. The intention is to publish every piece of writing that I have churned out for the past 10 years. Some pieces have a story behind the story, some lyrical poems have become songs. We have hundreds of poems, stories, songs, lyrics, and life musings. Subscribe and every Monday receive a story to start off your week. Art is created by Amina & AI.

Be patient in love. There is nothing more important that needs to be done.

Pissed off Prayer

God, old boy,

You insult my intelligence.

I expected more from you brother.

It was supposed to make sense.

No. Im not going to get on my knees.

That’s the problem.

Too many people on their knees

And not enough standing up

To your bull shit.

That right. Im calling Bull Shit.

The cloak and diaper thing

Done!

We’re shutting that down.

Never mind who We are.

Let’s just call it a coalition .

Of the like minded.

All you need to know is

The jig is up.

No-one’s buying the Koolaid anymore.

You’re not off the team yet.

But you’re gonna ride the pines

For the rest of this game.

There’s a few plays left.

We may need to go into over time.

There may be a Hail Mary pass.

(I thought you’d like the reference)

But we’re in it to win it,

And so far you just not living

Up to your press.

The suffering no-one sees accounts more for who one is than leniencies and easy times
