Derek Earl Houghton Poems

Welcome my blog. The intention is to publish every piece of writing that I have churned out for the past 10 years. Some pieces have a story behind the story, some lyrical poems have become songs. We have hundreds of poems, stories, songs, lyrics, and life musings. Subscribe and every Monday receive a story to start off your week. Art is created by Amina & AI.

Leonard Cohen died the day Trump was elected.

Richard Simmons died the day Trump got shot.

It feels like there’s a cosmic elastic band .

A threshold of tolerance  for sheer  nonsense,

that can only stretch so far,and ,

that reaching  a point of critical  out right absurdity

it SNAPS, leading to certain high risk people getting flung

head long into an eternity of uncontrollable tearful heart

wrenching laughter

making their very last sidesplitting  desperate gasp

for air and life before leaving a planet that makes no

Fucking sense whatsoever.

Myths and fairy tails comfort and fascinate  children.

Those adults who continue to present the entertainment

of childhood as proof of anything , should be awarded with cashmere diapers and

a gold plated  nipple for their intellectual rigour and

scintillating powers of investigation.

I love you little mister. Even now. Know that much about your old man.

Now that I'm gone I hope you think of me.

I only wish as a grown man you would have talked to me from time to time

when i was still there and had arms to embrace you.
