Air Kisses

It's not like we are friends.

We can go through the motions

When we are out in public.

We can glad hand and pat each on the back

We can cut ribbons.

We can make touching speeches to

believers.

We can even embrace and give each other air kisses.

But lets not fool ourselves when

The lights go down and the curtains close.

Let us not embarrass ourselves.

We can both scrape the shit off the bottom of our shoes.

We can both gargle to rinse away the lies out of our mouths.

That will be our gift to one another.

That will be our endowment to this very curious cause.
