The Lone Ranger

The Lone Ranger wasn’t alone.

He had Tonto.

He also had his faithful steed,

Bullet.

They wore masks.

Bullet didn’t wear a mask.

Bullet had nothing to hide.

He was a horse after all.

The reason for the masks

Are unclear

In 1959 on a Saturday morning he would

Wait for the paper and open up the Saturday

Morning comics in front of the T.V

And lie on his belly, on the avocado coloured carpets

He had Fred Flintstones pajamas.

He would read the Batman and Super Man.

While watching the Lone Ranger ride

To the top of a hell and rear his mighty

Steed.

His favourite thing during these hallowed moments

Was  a bowl of Fruit loops and the way they made

The milk sweet and pink.

The reason for the masks

Worn by the Lone Ranger and Tonto

Are unclear.

Particularly in Tonto’s case

Jack Benny never wore a mask.

Rochester had nothing to hide.

Rochester seemed much happier

Than Tonto.

Maybe it was the masks.

Maybe it was the role they played.

Maybe it was something to do with

History.

Or accuracy.

But the Lone Ranger needed

A mask.

And Tonto needed a mask.

He thought only bandits wore

Masks.

Thieves that hide in the shadows.

Thieves that look for the vulnerable

And the weak need masks

Hero’s don’t wear masks.

What were they hiding from.

History?

Accuracy?

Tune in next week for the exciting conclusion.
